Is Innovation Overrated?

How many times do designers, researchers et al use the term "Innovation"? Both my colleagues and myself are responsible for over using the term to define everything from product design to usability to user experience and even the Obama administration has jumped on the bandwagon. Now The New York Times is taking a stab at defining or redefining innovation, in "Reinventing Innovation".
